Biography

Joy Ngiaw is a Malaysian composer known for her work in the film and television industry. She gained recognition for her score in the debut animation Blush, produced by Apple TV+ and Skydance. Her work on Blush received several accolades, including the Best Music award from Hollywood Music in Media and a nomination for the Annie Awards in 2021. Notably, Joy also had the honor of composing the score for Skydance Animation‘s inaugural studio logo, becoming the youngest composer to achieve this milestone.
In addition to Blush, Joy has worked on various notable projects. She composed music for the TV show Glamorous, a collaboration between Netflix and CBS. She also contributed to the Walt Disney Animation Studios‘ project Short Circuit: Jing Hua and Netflix’s Rescued by Ruby.
Joy’s talent and contributions have earned her a nomination for the Emerging Talent award by the Society of Composers and Lyricists, highlighting her as a distinguished voice among the new generation of film composers.
Throughout her career, Joy has worked on critically acclaimed projects such as the TV shows Legion (FX), Cobra Kai (Netflix), and The Night Of (HBO). She has also composed music for films like Impractical Jokers: The Movie (WarnerMedia) and On The 12th Date of Christmas (Hallmark). Furthermore, she has contributed to video games, including What Remains of Edith Finch.
Joy Ngiaw graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music, showcasing her exceptional musical abilities. She possesses a deep appreciation for narratives that evoke nostalgia and foster meaningful connections. Her compositions aim to bridge thought-provoking perspectives and contribute to culturally significant content that celebrates diversity.
