Black Flies (also known as Asphalt City) is a 2023 American thriller drama film based on the 2008 novel of the same name by Shannon Burke. The film is written by Ryan King and Ben Mac Brown, directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire, produced by Projected Picture Works, Sculptor Media, and FilmNation Entertainment, and distributed by Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attractions. The film stars Tye Sheridan, Sean Penn, Katherine Waterston, Michael Pitt, Mike Tyson, Raquel Nave, Kali Reis, Onie Maceo Watlington, Cathi Swett, Shelly Burrell, Alisa Mironova, and Anthony Ricciardi.
Black Flies / Asphalt City premiered at the 76th Cannes Film Festival on 18th May 2023 and is scheduled to release on 29th March 2024.
