Biography

Richard Band (Richard Howard Band) is a film music composer. Richard is best known for his music to Exorcism at 60,000 Feet (2019), Trophy Heads (2014), Dr. Heckyl and Mr. Hype (1980), Re-Animator (1985), Bride of Re-Animator (1989), From Beyond (1986), Stargate SG-1 (1997), Dragonworld (1994), Prehysteria! “Richard Band was born in Los Angeles on December 28, 1953. He is the son of film producer-director-writer Albert Band (THE RED BADGE OF COURAGE – screen adaptation), brother to producer-distributor Charles Band (Empire Pictures & Full Moon) and uncle to young rock star Alex Band of the rock group ‘The Calling’. When Richard was five years of age the Band family moved to Sweden so that Albert, following his years working with John Huston, could direct and produce the film FACE OF FIRE (James Whitmore, Theodore Bikel). Subsequently the family moved on to Paris for a year where Richard upon returning from school would on an almost daily basis conduct Beethoven’s 5th and 9th symphonies while standing on the dining room table listening to the music on an old Telefunkin phonograph. In late 1959 the family then moved to Rome, which was rapidly becoming the “Hollywood of Europe” where the family remained for the next 11 years.”
