Resident Evil: Death Island is a 2023 Japanese computer-animated action horror film set in Capcom’s Resident Evil video game universe, following previous installments in the animated Resident Evil series. The film revolves around D.S.O. agent Leon S. Kennedy’s mission to rescue Dr. Antonio Taylor from kidnappers, which is hindered by a mysterious woman. Simultaneously, B.S.A.A. agent Chris Redfield investigates a zombie outbreak in San Francisco, where the cause of the infection is unknown. The victims share a connection of having recently visited Alcatraz Island, leading Chris and his team to the island, where they encounter a new horror.
The setting of the film is placed in the year 2015, after the events of Resident Evil 6 and Resident Evil: Vendetta but before Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
The voice cast includes Kevin Dorman as Chris Redfield, Matthew Mercer as Leon S. Kennedy, Nicole Tompkins as Jill Valentine, Erin Cahill as Rebecca Chambers, Stephanie Panisello as Claire Redfield, and Salli Saffioti as Ingrid Hunnigan.
In addition to the film, a manga adaptation of Death Island was announced by Capcom in May 2023. It will be serialized monthly on Kadokawa Corporation’s Comic Hu platform, illustrated by ZINO Kodakujii.
