Foundation is a 2021-2023 American science fiction streaming television series created by David S. Goyer and Josh Friedman for Apple TV+. Loosely based on Isaac Asimov’s Foundation series of stories, the show features an ensemble cast led by Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, and Leah Harvey.
Lee Pace plays the role of Brother Day, a middle-aged member of a series of genetic clones of Cleon I, who serves as the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. Lou Llobell portrays Gaal Dornick, a self-taught young woman and Hari’s protegee, hailing from a planet where the pursuit of knowledge is considered heresy. Leah Harvey plays Salvor Hardin, the Warden of Terminus and the daughter of Gaal Dornick, who becomes a hero during the Foundation’s first crisis.
The cast also includes Laura Birn as Eto Demerzel, an android and majordomo to the Emperors, one of the last surviving remnants from the ancient Robot Wars. Terrence Mann plays Brother Dusk, the eldest member of the genetic clone series of Cleon I, who retired from his duties as Emperor. Additionally, Chipo Chung provides the voice for the Deliverance operating system, and Cassian Bilton portrays Brother Dawn, the youngest member of the genetic clone series of Cleon I and the successor-in-training of Brother Day.
The production features executive producers David S. Goyer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, Robyn Asimov, Marcy Ross, Josh Friedman, and Cameron Welsh. The series is produced by Phantom Four and Skydance Television.
The first season premiered on 24th September 2021, and a second season was premiered on 14th July 2023. The third season had been confirmed and was in the process of being filmed. Foundation is available for streaming on Apple TV+.
